i. AIESEC Ecolity workshop
On 29 March, AIESEC members from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology ran an Eco-sims workshop for 40 St. Stephen’s Girls’ College students. The students were asked to make wise choices about investing in different types of industries so as to reap handsome profits. Types of industries included both green and non-green businesses, such as garment manufacturing, organic farming, ecotourism, etc. Finally, the end of world came when the carbon concentration exceeded the level the earth could tolerate. This game brought the urgent message to the students that we have to act fast before it is too late.
ii. AIESEC International conference of the Ecolity 2012
19 of our students from Form Three to Form Five participated in an International Conference of the ECOLITY 2012 program which was organized by AIESEC from 21 to 24 June 2012 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The conference was an invaluable opportunity for our students to gain new insights and share sentiments on sustainability. One of the aims of the conference was to envision 'Cultivating Green Leadership'. 160 Future Green Leaders from 11 different countries such as Japan, Korea, Canada, United Kingdom, Taiwan, Russia, Turkey etc. gathered at the ECOLITY2012 International Conference. The conference was divided into 3 parts, namely individuality, the business sector, and global cooperation. The participants attended various seminars conducted by many distinguished speakers. These lectures definitely widened the students’ horizons and helped them to explore the world’s development in greater depth. These events also helped them to gain knowledge about the connection between the world and nature which inspires them to think outside the box. In addition, the cultural exchange among delegates was also one of the highlights of the programme.
