Climate Youth - Low Carbon Fun Fair
As part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the "Climate Youth Network" programme is Hong Kong's first school climate network. It harnesses youth power to combat climate change, moving from individual practices to mobilizing school and community members in embracing low carbon lifestyles. Eighteen Climate Youth Ambassadors at St. Stephen’s Girls’ College, from F.4 and F.5 created a campaign called The Growing Seed, and joined the climate youth network organized by Green Power. The Growing Seed campaign organized a series of activities for kindergarten, primary and secondary school students in the community hoping to promote low carbon living as well as reducing carbon footprints through recycling.
On March 22nd, the Growing Seed Campaign held a Low Carbon Funfair in the KSL and Ho Tung Halls. This was a great opportunity for primary school students and their parents to gain a better understanding of low carbon living. They enjoyed lively presentations, wonderful game stalls, composting demonstrations and garden tours. The Funfair was not only about having fun; it was also about knowing how to implement low carbon living in our daily lives. We hope that all the participants have learnt how to care for the environment.
