The programme is a joint-effort of Hong Kong Baptist University and WoFoo Social Enterprises Ltd, supported by Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF). The roles and missions of the eco-embassadors are to gain an in-depth knowledge of sustainable waste management and promote different forms of environmentally-friendly waste treatments at school. This helps to contribute to the success of a school-based waste management plan through arousing students' awareness as well as enhancing their knowledge about it. Therefore, a green learning environment can be achieved.
F.3D Vivian Yeung was selected as one of the outstanding Eco-ambassadors in Hong Kong to participate in the Know Your Own Waste Environmental 4-days-3-nights Field Visit and Study Tour to Taiwan from 25 to 28 June 2012. The aim of the field visit was to allow the students to have a better understanding of the impact of waste management policies and public preconceptions of the effects of waste management in Taiwan. She visited the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration, waste management facilities and organizations and shared ideas with the local Taiwanese people so as to have a better understanding on the impact of waste management policies and public perceptions of the effects of waste management in Taiwan. It was an invaluable opportunity for one of our students to gain new insight into the concerns about and impacts on green policy making.
